The real estate and housing market in Colorado had strong sales over the summer. This was particularly true for the higher end markets. The mid-level markets also did fairly well. Both June and July proved to be great months. Since Colorado only had a modest spring, the strong sales came as a bit of a surprise.

Colorado has a reasonably strong economy, which seems to be playing an important role in their market. They are showing signs of stability when it comes to prices. However, this does not mean that Colorado’s housing market is completely out of trouble. Real estate sales are still on the mend. Like everywhere else in the country, foreclosure rates are still at a high-level.

Despite the high-level of foreclosures, there is still a demand for houses in Colorado. This drive in real estate activity is due to a number of factors. For one thing, many consider the state to be the ideal place to live. The diverse job base attracts a lot of people. Along with that, the state has great schools and fantastic weather. It also presents lots of opportunities for people to participate in outdoor activities. All of these factors attract home buyers.

When looking for a new home in Colorado, there are so many possibilities. In the Northwest region of the state is the city of Grand Junction which is east of the Grand Mesa. With spectacular views from the vantage points of Rimrock Drive. In recent years the Grand Valley Wineries have produced a variety of wines. Also located here in this region is the town of Aspen where many of the rich and famous have their winter homes. But in general, Aspen has been highly rated as a skiing destination from beginners to expert skiers.

Not forgetting one of America’s major cities, Denver boasts a modern facade with old west charm. The restaurant scene in this city has a diverse contrast from steak houses to chic eateries. Shopping in Denver is easy at the Cherry Creek Mall with the nation’s high class department stores all in one place. Flying into this city is an experience with the new ultra modern Denver International Airport.

Moving south from Denver is the city of Colorado Springs which has not only a visitors center for Pikes Peak, but an Olympic Training center and the US Air Force Academy with the Cadet Chapel. Coors Brewery is located in Golden which offers a beautiful location as well.

In conclusion, whether it’s to train in the Air Force or looking to continue raising a family the state of Colorado has a lot to offer to families looking to buy a home. Raising a family in one of most beautiful spots in all of North America will be something to cherish for a lifetime of rich natural beauty.

Thinking about moving to Colorado? It’s a great place to live as anyone will tell you but you may come up against a few challenges you hadn’t thought of before the move. Here are a few things to look into and find out about before you put down that down payment
Isolation: Many parts of Colorado are far away from city resources so you may be tasked with finding a way to secure water and even power for your home. Cell service and internet can be tricky, too, but many people find luck with satellite so check out sites like get.wildblue.com/.
Weather: Unless you’re coming from a neighboring state you may not be prepared for the icy, snowy winters and dusty summers that CO has to offer. Research the weather in your intended area and find out if you need chains for the car or a new car altogether.
Altitude: People don’t realize how much altitude can affect them until they experience it. Visit Colorado several times before your move to make sure your body can handle the high elevations and you won’t end up with constant headaches and even altitude sickness.

When it comes to thinking about Colorado, the mind can easily wander to days of the old west when cattle ranching and wrangling was the norm. If you want to experience a little bit of that nostalgia yourself when visiting the state you might want to start investigating some options now so you’ll be ready to ride in the spring thaw. Many ranches offer an all-inclusive vacation that includes civilized delights such as wine cellars, delicious meals and relaxing massage treatments in addition to the authentic experience. Some ranches are open year round (like the Sylvan Dale ranch) since the 3200-acre ranch offers winter activities that include horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and more. But others like the Vista Verde Guest Ranch don’t open until early June (partially due to its elevation of 7800 feet). There are tons of options to choose from running through the alphabet and ending with the Zapata Ranch located on 103,000 acres where guests can ride and learn about the ranch’s 2500 head of bison. If you’re interested in learning more about where your wrangling vacation might be spent we suggest you contact the Colorado Dude and Guest Ranch Association at 1.866.942.3472. Saddle up!

It’s always fun to plan a vacation especially if it’s to stunningly beautiful Colorado. But if you find yourself wanting to espouse some not-commonly-known facts about your latest destination of choice we provide the following items for you to use how you will (and we’re hoping they inspire you to visit the state as soon as possible)!

Stephen King’s novel The Shining was said to be inspired by the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, a Colorado tradition since 1909.

Colorado is home to Coors Beer so it should be little wonder that it is also home to more microbreweries per capita than any other state.

If you’ve heard of the famed herbal tea-maker Celestial Seasonings then you should know that Boulder is home to its factory (on Sleepytime Drive, nonetheless).

The highest suspension bridge in the world is located in the state. The Royal Gorge Bridge spans the Arkansas River and has a height of 1,053 feet.

Colorado has a large expanse of open land; in fact, more than one-third of the state’s land is Federal Public Land.

The city of Denver has the largest city park system in the country and showcases 205 parks in its city limits and 20,000 acres of parkland in its nearby mountains.

You know Denver is called the “mile high city,” but if you want to truly experience one mile above sea level all you have to do is stand on the thirteenth step of the state capital building which was designed to be precisely one mile above sea level.

The longest continuous street in America is Colfax Avenue located in Denver.

Colorado is known as horse country, and it makes sense since the world’s first rodeo was held in Deer Trail on July 4, 1869.

If you’re a golfer you’re going to love this: a golf ball travels an average of 10 further in Colorado than any other state due to the altitude. Remember that when calculating an important tee-off.

There’s no doubt about it living in Colorado affords you some of the best Christmas tree selection opportunities of just about anywhere else in the country. But before you head out to your favorite Christmas tree farm to select “the chosen one,” here are some tips and pointers to make sure your trip is as enjoyable as possible. When heading out, try to make it a day trip for the whole family if possible, and remember to bring snacks and liquids, or plan (route) a stop along the way for a meal. This is a big day, so make a true “event” of it if possible. Remember to wear old clothes since you don’t want to have to worry about tearing or staining (from sap) clothes that you don’t want damaged. Also remember to wear hiking boots or old athletic shoes, gloves, and a heavy jacket to protect your arms. And talking about clothing, keep in mind that winter weather can change with barely a moment’s notice so wear (or bring) layers to make last-minute adaptation, and in the worst case scenario, allow for a Plan B should a downpour halt your plans. When you’re transporting your tree home, remember that you’ll need a sheet of plastic or an old blanket over the roof to protect your paint. Don’t “expect” the tree farm to provide this protection if they do; great. If not, you’d hate to be ill-prepared to get your selection home. And when you get your tree home, make sure you check it for wildlife. Yes, you read that right. It’s been reported that little field mice have had nests in trees and when the tree got home and set up, field mice scattered about the room! And if that’s not enough to get you to check your tree, consider the possibility of spider eggs or praying mantis eggs (which are also quite common!). A good way to make sure you don’t transport these uninvited guests is to have your tree “shaken” on the tree farmer’s mechanical shaker if one is available. A lot of tree farms have peripheral fun like hay rides, Santa, petting zoos or extra greenery for garlands and wreaths. Make sure you plan for and take full advantage of all that is offered.
